Totally out of the blue in october I ran into Grrrrt and Arnold of ZEA and they invited me to join their tour, helping out with the driving and maybe playing some impromptu shows here and there. I ended up playing almost every night. It was great, I improved the set, got rid of the loop shit and here we are, I decided to start a real band, write songs and stuff. I did a little demo that I’ll be having with me at the shows from now on.

Hello again.
For about a little more than a year Jonathan and I haven’t been playing together as Sathönay.
We felt that we didn’t want to be another math-rock instrumental duo, wanking hard rock all over the place. Being allways really loud and macho and we just felt that the two-people formula had it’s limits. You see, the thing is that you have to chatter all the time, sometimes you just can’t shut up because if you doo the other guy is left alone or just nothing happens anymore.
Anyways, we tried to invite other people, Romain in particular, who plays in Jonathan’s band PANPANPAN and who wanted to try upright bass. Somehow we didn’t find the time to get more serious with it than one long awesome jam.
So right now Sathönay is just myself, I just use it as concept for my experimentations in the higher spheres of the psyche with the aid of musical influences that range mostly outside the allways-conquering-never-understanding occident. Jonathan will join in whenever he feels like. For now I’ve got some new stuff with my old friend Goo. Check it out.

Last weekend was like the most awesome show we ever played.

We were in the middle of the swiss alps, in Emmental. In the Grüebli farm where we had to have all the equipment loaded in the Cable-car to reach the top. People where coming by foot from all over the place. We chilled in the swedish bath outside, watching the mountains and smoking pot. Felt the warm welcome of Mirko and Heidi’ s family and friends deep in our little cramped, city-scarved hearts and danced all night.

Thanks for these incredible memories.

some shows cancelled

Unfortunately our good friends CHEVREUIL had to cancel their first reunion tour this month. So the show at GRRRND ZERO with us is cancelled.

It is to be postponed in the fall. We’ll let you know.

The show at the FOULOIR in Nantes is also cancelled because of internal problems. We hope they can work it out because this project is really great.

These are a bunch of work-in-progress songs that we have recorded. Two of them at l’épicerie moderne and another one at the little rehearsal place we had in my house last winter. We had to stop that because our neighbour turned into an aggressive Lama, drooling with hate. Fuck that square bitch. Gentrification is walking our way, Sathonay is a sad and beautiful neighborhood.

It’s pretty obvious which are recorded professionally with the help of Cédric and Bruno in Feyzin.

So. Welcome to this blog. It’s been hella difficult to find a way to make it look okay enough to make it public.

News are that we did our first recording session and our second show, both at the EPICERIE MODERNE , an island in the valley of burning gasoline in the south suburbs of Lyon. An island of love.

We have played our first show thanks to David and the Sonic.
Everybody was nice to us and the stress sort of vanished.
It was on feb 16th.
